What if all Requesters were required to complete a certain number of HITs as Workers before they were allowed to post a HIT?
Amazon already has some controls in place for Turkers–specifically the limit on the number of HITs that a new worker can complete no more than 100 HITs per day for the first ten days of work. I think this is because Amazon wants to be sure the work from new Turkers is getting accepted.
So putting in some ‘quality control’ for Requesters wouldn’t be outside the norm for Amazon. This control would serve to familiarize new Requesters with how HITs look as well as to better understand the relationship between effort and payment. Many blogs and such recommend Requesters do this, and I humbly suggest that Amazon consider formalizing this recommendation.
