This article from backchannel.com covers a lot of familiar crowdsourcing ground but does add a few nuggets of new information. Those nuggets, and my thoughts, are below.
-payments for HITs are actually decreasing, not increasing (although evidence is highly anecdotal)
-the next jobs to receive the ‘crowd treatment’ will be doctors and teachers (could I crowdsource my PhD?)
-about 600,000 tasks are posted each day on MTurk (how many HITs, I wonder? I think that the number of HITs that I’m qualified for has decreased dramatically in the past year. I’m not a hugely advanced Worker–I’ve completed several hundred HITs and have an acceptance rate of around 98%. But some days there are only 300 HITs avaialble to me).
